Wheeling Wednesday, June 14

Diane was teaching a class at the store so I took advantage of a drive and went with her. Jennifer, the new girl, was working today and I thought if things were busy she could use my help. She is more than capable and most likely could teach me a few things!! I did borrow her car to take the cardboard and plastic to the recycling bins. Along the way I stopped at Bikes and Beans to pick up a cheque that Lisa Currer had left for Bob and I. When I opened the envelope I was amazed at her generoisity. Wow, thank you so much Lisa!! When I got back to the store, Pam Mesheau arrived with a donation!! Lucky day!! Thank you Pam. I have reached my $5,000 pledge amount and am now working to help Bob achieve his goal. Hopefully we will surpass the amount we pledged and to ensure the Canadian Bible Society will reach its' goal!! When Bob came home with the mail, there was a generous cheque from my sister, Vicki.....way to go Vick, and thanks!!!

Last night was the Wednesday night ride and 8 showed up. Lynn McLellan was there and I had great fun riding and chatting with her. She cycled across Canada in 2001, so she provided pointers and information with lots of helpful hints. She was very positive and gave me some "mental" tips for when the times get tough. I enjoyed her story and the 3 pound hamburger she ate in Wawa. She has a web site recording her story and trip. You can find it at www.lynnmclellan.com/tdc/

We decided to do our regular 40 km ride along the back of the Belleisle and were hit with rain, what else, along the ride, but it was mild so other than getting wet, it wasn't too bad. We arrived back at the ferry landing just after 8. We didn't bother stopping at the Pub as we knew the kitchen would be "closed". Bob had picked up some steak at the market earlier in the afternoon and we invited Dorothy, Glen, Carole and Barb who were with us at the ferry landing to come for a BBQ. Only Barb took up our offer; Bob fired up the BBQ, and I made baked potatoes, brocolli with cheese sauce, onions and mushrooms. It was nice to get to know Barb better, and we had a nice relaxing conversation over a good meal. Great way to end the day!!
