Wednesday night ride, June 7, 2006
We arrived at the Gondola Point beach parking lot to prepare for the Wednesday night ride when Bob discovered he had forgotton his shoes at home. Dorothy, Glen, Barb, Simon and I waited for his return before setting out. Carole was tied up at work, so wasn't coming. George had hollered down from his "condo balcony" to say we were going to be rained upon, therefore he wasn't coming. Wimp. We debated on a route as we cycled along and decided to try our usual 40 km ride along the back of the Bellisle, Erb's Cove, Gagnon Road, Warden Road and back to the ferry. The weather was good for cycling, traffic light and it was an enjoyable ride. Normally we would stop to eat at the Riverview Pub, but when George called to say we would be coming, he was advised that the kitchen was closing at 8. I guess they aren't interested in our business anymore.....the former management welcomed us and we had a great menu. The current managers have been operating for the past year. Menu is more limited and they are not as welcoming. I guess their regular "poker" night take precedent over feeding and serving other customers!! Oh well, their loss. As it was, we arrived back at the ferry landing around 8:05 and headed to the Old Barnwood in Quispamsis for dinner. Once we had our beer and were placing our order, we discovered that the Pub's kitchen was closed and we had to order from the Pizza Delight menu. Next time we will remember that and just go to Pizza Delight, as it is licensed.
