Well, it wasn't raining when I put Jessi out at 5:30 this morning....mind you, the sun wasn't up yet either.
Yesterday I helped out at a time trial and a road race in Lorneville. It rained, and rained. Then it would stop and appear to get clear only to have the rain start again and it seemed to get heavier each time. There were over 50 riders, who didn't seem to mind the conditions....I was outside for the time trial helping get the riders in sequence. I was soaked. For the road race I drove in the car behind the second pack, keeping track of bib numbers and taking jackets from the riders as they removed them.
Today I baked raisin bread for the auction tomorrow night at the KV Quilt Guild closing. They are holding the auction for Bob and I with the proceeds going towards our Bike for Bibles tour. I was really surprised and feel very grateful in their willingness to do something for Bob and I. I also purchased a nice basket and will put in a couple of bottles of wine for the auction.
I called Christopher this morning and he came out with Bob tonight after work. I had dinner ready when they arrived and then Bob and I left for our bike ride. He fixed my computer for me, so I am happy. Going up the McKay Highway near the Ultramar, I got a flat. The pump we are using is more for mountain bike tires and it was hard to get the pressure up. WE both gave it a go and were exhausted. I ended up driving the remainder of the trip on an "underinflated" tire. We did our planned route, Bonney Road, Hammond River and Stockfarm, only in reverse direction tonight. The drive along the Hammond River was beautiful with the sun setting and reflecting across the hills and valleys. Almost 3 D like. Then we had the steep climb up the Stockfarm, which I think I prefer!! We did the 51 km ride again, but were 2 minutes slower tonight....oh well.
We ran into a fellow cyclist, Dan Sleep, at the ferry landing and we chatted as we hadn't seen him on the bike prior this season. Hopefully he will join us on the Wednesday night ride.
I received a cheque from an old friend, Debi Price towards the B for B tour and another one from a friend of my mom's, Betty Zwicker. Thank you both!!!
