Adventures with Jill and Carole, June 2, 2006
By chance I called Carole at work to discover she had the day off. Wonderful!! I called her at home and like a miracle she answered (Carole isn't the greatest at answering her phone). We chatted for a bit and then made plans to do a ride. I finished my chores, ugh...and then cycled down to her place. We set off close to 2, cycled to Dr. Jason Saunder's office where I picked out some cycling glasses for the cross Canada trip. Carole said "they are beautiful". I think she looks at everything through rose coloured glasses, lucky gal. I think I look like the Hansen brothers from the movie Slapshot done in the 70's. From there it was out the Hampton Highway to our first stop at the Ultramar for a popsicle and pit stop. Then on to the Bonney Road, through the Smithtown covered bridge and then a back road that brought us out through First, Second and Third Lakes....through Baxter's Corner, Upper Loch Lomond. It was great riding, weather just right. We stopped at the Ultramar by the airport for more water before heading back home via Churchland Road to the Arterial. We parted company at the bottom of Grove Ave. and I came home to put supper on as I invited Carole to join me later. So, as for training we did a 77.97 ride in 3 hours and 34 minutes. It was more of a leisurly pace which I really enjoyed. A very pleasant afternoon.
