Thursday, June 15

The plumber arrived at 10:30 and proceeded to replace our water holding tank and was finished just before noon. Bob had checked with his co workers about a reliable plumber and was told about Maurice, so called him. Maurice came to check out the situation and was back in the morning to do the required work. Most homes here in the valley are all on there own wells, so water issues are a worry. Maurice said the old tank was waterlogged and he said we were lucky that he hadn't sprung a leak. We are pleased to have this fixed before we depart!!
Donnie came back from the parish hall to pick me up to help cater the Senior's Dinner which the ACW were doing. A lovely ham and potato scallop dinner was served, with great pies for dessert. I love helping out as we get a free meal....with more to take home for supper. Yahoo.
I borrowed a tiny "portable e-mail device" machine from our friends, Herb and Jean Foglein, and set up an account through pocketmail. This is a very user friendly machine, VERY small keyboard meant for the two fingered typist, which I will have to become. I actually was able to compose and send an e-mail successfully, without becoming frustrated...that made my day!!!. Although we intend to take our computer with us on the journey, should we have any problems this e-mail device will be what we will use. Our e-mail address for sending and receiving will be:
rjlloyd@pocketmail.com
But, PLEASE do not send photos, junk mail, jokes or attachments to this account. It is for text only.
My new "Hanson" brother's glasses came in so Bob and I went to retrieve them after work. They fit great and I am glad that I decided to get them. I can see!! So, it was a rather $$$$$$ expensive day!!
Last night we went to Joyce and Donnie's house as Bob had the old bike rack and wanted to see if it would fit on their car. We fiddled and decided that it would work. They will be coming to Newfoundland to retrieve us at the end of the journey. We then went on line trying to find accommodations (to bid on for a cheaper rate) for our night in St. John's on September 3rd. We will only have one day to be the tourist in that city as we are booked to return via the Argentia ferry at 1 minute before midnight on September 4.
