Sunny Saturday, June 18

I woke up at 2:37 and I really didn't fall back to sleep. I just seemed to toss and turn and couldn't doze off. Bob got up with Jess at 5:30 and she was back in the bedroom trying to stir us around 6:30. I think I was just feeling like falling back to sleep at that time!! Frustrating. I did get up. It was so beautiful outside with the sun shining and blue skies. I opened the windows. First job of the day was cleaning out the litter box.....next was vacuuming the house and then cleaning the bathrooms. Bob went out to clean up the bikes. Last night when we cycled we realized that the bikes hadn't beec cleaned since the rain on the Wednesday ngiht ride. There was sand and grit in variousl locations. He also was going to insall my new computer which he picked up at Alternatives from Simon on Friday. I also asked him to hook up the two new water bottles to the fitting to go behind my seat and also the front saddle bag. He came in the house about 40 minutes later, a little annoyed. Apparently there was NO battery in the computer which Simon had sold him. Obviously removed for some other customer and NOT replaced. To add insult to injury, the new saddle bag which is a great idea is of poor design. The bag is suitable, but the fitting rolls around and does not stay tight. Then as we were driving, I lost one a water bottle out of the new cage as I drove off the ferry, spilling the entire contents. The bottles don't seem to fit snug in the cages. DOESN'T ANYTHING WORK PROPERLY THESE DAYS!!!
As it was a beautiful day we decided that we would do the 6 ferry ride. We didn't leave home until close to noon. We crossed the Gondola Point ferry and cycled up through the Belleisle, crossing the Belleisle Ferry and then cycled through Kars to Evandale ferry, crossing over to route 102. That is a treat, as the pavement is so smooth....no chip seal there! We then take the Hampstead ferry back across to Wickham and then on to MacDonald Point to visit with our neighbours, Bev and Peter who were at their summer camp. It is a beautiful spot, right on the water.
They were down relaxing on the beach when we interrupted them. I had taken my bathing suit, so waded in the water. At first touch it appeared cold, very cold, but as I waded and stood, it seemed to warm up and eventually I "ducked". It was quite refreshing. We stayed to eat with Bev and Peter and left the table at 5:30 for the trip home. Man, what an awful feeling trying to cycle on a full stomach. For the entire ride home the wind was strong in our face which does slow down our pace and really drains me. I was beginning to feel punchy and tired by the time we got to the Gagnon Rd, so we stopped for a granola bar. That seemed to perk me up somewhat and we continued on to home. Today's ride was 113.62 and we did it in 5 hours 28 minutes cycling tme. Today, I reached 2001.62 km. on my odomoter for the season.
