Tuesday, June 27

Little Buddy tried to get me up around 5:30 and I hollered that "it's to early". He settled back down and I drifted off until just after 7. Wow, that is sleeping in!! I was hoping for a sunny day, but not to be. Bob spent the morning out in the shed working on the bikes, changing tires etc. I went to the post office, CIBC to deposit a cheque for Jordive, and then stopped in at "Town and Country Quilts" to see Tina. The knitting store, Cricket Cove, has moved from our location into the city Market. There is a quietness now in the store without Liz and I am sure that Tina misses her. I watched the store so Tina could pick up her pup, Mia, who was getting her first "grooming". Tina brought her back for me to see...she was shaved, with a fluff ball for her tail which she kept chasing. I then went to Bikes and Beans to pick up rim tape and brake pads for Bob.

I organized my suitcase again; and it seems never ending. The "carry on" bag that I intend to use on the plane is actually the bag that fits on my bike to carry tools, tubes, all the things that I will need during the day's ride. I had to remember to take my multi tool from the carry on and put it in the luggage as it most likely would be conviscated when I go through the x-ray and search procedure.

Had a game of scrabble with Diane this afternoon. We are both competitive, and it is interesting to see the score go back and forth. This afternoon we were tied at the last round, but I had a "v" which I couldn't place anywhere thus Diane ended up winning.

I came home close to 5 and Bob was pruning some bushes. My gardens are so neglected. The weather has prevented me from getting much accomplished. I feel badly leaving them unattended for so long, and by the time we get back from our trip they will be totally overgrown. Next year will definitly be a challenge. We finally picked a spot for Jessi and buried her ashes. It made me sad to think of such a "lacklustre" ending to what was such a beautiful and loving pet. Little Buddy arrived on the scene to take part, walking over the hole and mound of earth. I do believe he knew what was going on. Yaga remained on the deck, observing. Little Buddy came in for dinner but didn't eat, not even his tuna....he was/is acting rather strangely!!! I am sure he misses Jessi as well.

Bob and I arrived at Bikes and Beans for 6 as we planned an early ride with Carole and intended to finish the evening by boxing our bikes for the trip. The weather was iffy...drizzle at times with clouds looming overhead. Marci advised that if we were going to box the bikes then they shouldn't be soaked....so, we contemplated "should we ride or not". Margret arrived and greeted us and said "it's not going to rain". So, on that note, Bob, Carole and I headed out. We did the Hammond River loop and came back up Stockfarm and down Elliot Road, back to the highway and back to the store. The weather was good. Rain held off and it was a pleasant ride. The "Quick Chicks" arrived back around 8:20. Sonya, Lisa, Margret, Cheryl, Barb, Dorothy, dropped inside to wish us well on our trip. There were several new gals whom I didn't know. Marci and Bob worked on dismantling the bikes and boxing them. Iva, Carole and I chatted about kitchen and bathroom renovations. Carole drove the boxed bikes home in her truck and I tagged along. She has kindly given me a "computer" for my bike....so a part of her will be making the trip with me.
