Wednesday November 8

Another week has zoomed by leaving me behind....I really enjoyed my visit with Julia last week; and the get together with some old university gals. After I dropped Julia at the airport on Tuesday, it was back to work and the normal routine. I spent some time on the web site, up dating etc. but the store was busy as well, so that was great. I did find myself tuckered out come mid week....I guess the late hours from the weekend was catching up!! I don't seem to party as hardy as when I was younger!!

Bob and I went grocery shopping on Thursday night to pick up the supplies for the roast beef dinner which we were running at the church on Saturday. He had purchased the beef earlier and we distributed the roasts to the people who would be cooking them. Friday night we went to the church hall but a litle "elf" had already put up the tables, chairs and had set the table with the utensils, napkins etc. Bonus!!
(Found out it was Catharine Geldhart..thanks) We did peel the potatoes, carrots and arranged the kitchen in preparation. On Saturday morning I worked on the wall hanging that I was "creating" while Bob picked up the dinner rolls from the bakery and went to the hall to carve the meat. He arrived home just after 2 and then we were off again to get the veges on the stove to boil etc. The meal went well and we served around 175-180 people. As well as a fund raiser for the church, it is a good social event for the community and it is nice to see familiar faces and to chat. The meal finished after 6 and by the time we cleaned up it was almost 8. Bob and I then went to Norma and Ted Britten's home to do a presentation with their group about our cycling trip this past summer. Bob did a slide show and I would add a few comments as well. It was a nice group of people. We finished just before 10 and were then home to bed as we were exhausted.

The roofers started to re shingle our roof on Friday past. They only got half done and then it was the weekend. Of course, the weather was perfect on Saturday and Sunday and when Monday arrived, so did the snow. They did make it back on Tuesday to finish the other part...now the only thing left is the shed. Weather was bad today with rain and more rain for tomorrow. Friday is supposed to be sunny so perhaps the job can be completed then?

On Monday I didn't get to ACW as I wasn't feeling well. I woke up with a head ache and then just didn't have much energy. I was supposed to go to the church to finish cleaning the stoves which were a mess from the dinner on Saturday. Karen finished the job for me. I napped on the couch til noon and then spent the afternoon in the office catching up on the Jordive work. Bob and I went in town and took Chris and Claudine out to Thandi's for dinner. Then we went to the Third Space to watch the movie "The Big Lebowski". It was entertaining.

On the way home I realized that I had left my purse either in the restaurant or in the Third Space. dhhhhh. (It was found in the restaurant)

Back to work yesterday and today....and the store was busy, which is great, although I didn't get to eat my lunch until almost 4!! And I will admit I was a tad hungry by that time!!

My mom is in Halifax with the other War Brides who are celebrating events at Pier 21, where they all landed when they arrived in Canada 60 years ago. There are functions for them to attend and then Mom will then take the train to Ottawa to partake in the Remembrance Day celebrations. It must be fun and exciting for her to see all the other women who also left their homelands, families and friends to come to a "new" country, all alone. How frightening it must have been!!! I don't know if I would have been brave enough to do something like that!!

My friend Wendy and her husband leave tomorrow for the Dominican Republic to meet up with their son who will be getting married down there. Congratulations John and Britany.

We brought the road bikes in from the shed.....now to set mine up on a trainor and hopefully commit to doing some spinning on it???? I have lost the biking urge for the time being. I guess I am just too preoccupied with other things...
