Wednesday, May 31....the purpose of the blog

Last night when I posted my first blog, I was concentrating on creating the blog rather than telling the purpose of why. The reason being:
My husband, Bob (55) and I (53) will be cycling across Canada this summer. We are cycling enthusiasts who live in Quispamsis, New Brunswick. To bike across always Canada has always been something that I wanted to do and last summer I learned that the Canadian Bible Society was planning a cross country cycling event to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Bible Society. We registered and will fly to Victoria on June 29th to meet the other 60 members of the team who will be participating. The creation of this blog is to enable me to write about the journey and share our experiences with those who want to read about this journey which will begin on July 2 as we dip our tires in the Pacific Ocean and will end on September 3rd in St. John's Newfoundland where we will finish.
Currently we are busy training to be in shape for the journey as well as fund raising. We are obligated to raise $5,000 each for the Canadian Bible Society who hope to raise $500,000 to establish an initiative in an outreach program that will encourage Bible use in Canada among those who need to hear a message of hope, in a language they can understand.
I am grateful to my friends, fellow bikers, co-workers, church family who are responding to my plea for pledges. Thank you!!!
For those interested in learning about the Bike for Bibles tour you can visit their website at www.bikeforbibles.ca . Once on the site, you can seek out the participants on the tour and read personal profiles.
Today I hope to put a few km. on the bike in an effort to build more endurance.........

training run

Tonight was a great ride with the "quick chicks". Being a beautiful evening 23 gals showed up for a ride. We left Bikes and Beans at 6:30 sharp and did a 40 km loop. Great ride, great companions and fun during the meal following.
Training for the Bike for Bibles Tour is coming along, and hopefully I will be prepared and comfortable once we begin our cross Canada tour. I am hoping to do a longer ride tomorrow, which is the last day in May. I want to be at 15o0 km for the first of June......I need 90 km tomorrow??
Need to catch some sleep so I can be organized come tomorrow.
